Pure CASHMERE

100% NATURAL YARNS

The best CASHMERE

Cashmere fibre needs no introduction: the name alone is today synonym of exclusive quality and appeal, which we are careful to preserve during production and which we enhance thanks to original knitting styles. This natural yarn is obtained from the woolly undercoat that the Hircus Laniger goat grows underneath its outer fleece to protect it from the harsh winter weather and the big differences in temperature in its natural habitat. This soft downy wool is removed by hand-combing in the spring. The best cashmere is selected mainly from the cold high plains of inland Mongolia and China. Extraordinarily fine (between 11 and 18 microns) these fibres are however ten times more insulating than wool and extremely comfortable on the skin, due to their exceptional softness and heat-regulating properties.

At Maglificio Tonello we use the famous Cariaggi yarns. We take the combed yarns made with longer cashmere fibres and turn them into knitted articles that are pleasantly warm yet light thanks to their fine thicknesses. Carded yarns are much thicker and we use these to make very warm cashmere knits, particularly soft and cosy to the touch.
