How to take CARE of Cashmere

We like to think that each creation by LeTonell is not merely an article in cashmere, but will become a part of the life and experiences of its purchaser.

Washing and drying guide

Always follow the washing instructions on your garment label. Cashmere should normally be washed in water, which helps to revive the natural fibre. We therefore only recommend dry cleaning if there are stains to remove or to sanitise the garment before putting it away for the summer. Regular dry cleaning is not recommended because the acids used strip the yarn.

Turn your cashmere garment inside out and wash in lukewarm water (maximum 30°C) with a neutral detergent for delicates. When hand-washing, avoid rubbing or twisting. It should then be rinsed several times without wringing to remove every last trace of detergent from the fibres. Your garment must not be put to dry while still soaking wet, so pat gently with a towel first or spin it in the washing machine at 600 revs for fine articles and 800/1000 revs for thicker ones.

As an alternative it can be machine washed, again with neutral detergent, using a suitable programme and temperature (on a “hand wash” or “wool” setting at 30°C). This will already include a spin cycle.

Flat dry your garment: if hung up to dry it may become misshapen due to the excess weight.

Ironing

Iron your cashmere garment inside out on a medium-low heat (“wool” setting), preferably placing a cotton cloth between the iron and your garment.
